GOOD & PLENTY

Actress/producer Meagan Good rocks it out in the latest issue of GIANT magazine.
The Saw V actress is featured in this November issue Giant magazine. Below are some tidbits from the article...
Good on horror movies: “I love horror movies. The Halloween movies inspired me to be an actress. I wanted to be the girl being chased and running from something horrible.”

Good on being a sex kitten: “I want to play roles that people wouldn’t expect to see me in,” she says. “At the end of the day, I’m no sex kitten. Sometimes I’m downright corny.”

Good on staying grounded and not conforming to Hollywood stereotypes: “I refuse to portray any role that disrespects God or myself. As an actress and a Christian, there are certain things I won’t [do]. [It’s when] the role is yours and you’re ready to sign the contract, and at the last minute... they spring on the nudity. It’s heartbreaking.”
Good on ambition and fame: “I realize the only thing harder than getting there is staying there.”

ALICIA KEYS IN SEVENTEEN MAGAZINE

Alicia Keys lands the cover of SEVENTEEN magazine, and she gives us the scoop on her relationships, her career, and her friends.

On her biggest struggle with relationships: I have definitely been overaccomodating. It gets to the point where I’m not taking a second to ask, How am I feeling today? We have to listen to our feelings. But a lot of times you ignore them. You’re busy, you’re in school, you’re working, trying to get into college, to make your mom happy, to be the best student you can be, to make your friends like you, to fit in. You don’t want to disappoint anyone. But at some point you have to say, Enough! I can’t be perfect.

On what she’s learned about love and dating: I wouldn’t deal with a guy who didn’t know how to make me feel really loved. If you’re not totally head-over-heels adoring and loving me at every moment, I’m not even into you. I need that. I think we deserve people who really, really love us. Like whether you’re a thousand miles away or right there, you need to make the person feel special, and you have to feel special too.

On her current friendships: “I don’t have a ton of friends. That’s too much work. So most of my friends are girls I’ve known for years. I mean we were 4 years old together, or we met each other in high school, or junior high school, so I’ve known them for a long time. Most of them are great people and don’t even look at me like ‘Alicia Keys’ – they are my great, wonderful sisters.

DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN

Ne-Yo appears a bit fresher than usual and it’s no accident. The 28-year-old—whose third and latest album is aptly titled Year of the Gentleman enforces a clean cut dress code. “Sammy Davis Jr. had an effortless cool when he wore a suit,” says Ne-Yo. “I want to bring that back into the game.”
What is it about a suit that dignifies a man?

I’m not saying you have to throw on a three-piece suit to be a gentleman every time you walk out of the house, but on the other hand, a gentleman understands what it means to dress for the occasion. I learned that you can put on a suit and be as comfortable, if not more, than in a pair of jeans... You have to make a conscious effort to keep your nails short and clean.

Really? Manicures?
That’s something I used to never give a damn about, and I learned the hard way. People were saying, “How’s Ne-Yo got on a $2,000 suit and his nails are dirty?”
How have your style tastes changed over the course of your career?
You have to understand that I was the songwriter dude spending 23 hours in a studio. All of a sudden I’m in the spotlight, and what you look like is more important than your talent. I’ll keep it all the way real with you: I wasn’t the guy who knew how to dress. It was difficult at first, but I take pride now in knowing what looks good on me.
