Don Imus: Coming Back "Black" With New Sidekicks
Don Imus is back on the radio airwaves – this time with a little color. Karith Foster and Tony Powell are his new and improved radio show's cast members. And they are African-American. Talk about affirmative action. That's more like "affirmative reaction." According to the 67-year-old controversial radio shock jock, the two relatively unknown stand-up comics have been tapped to help conduct "an ongoing discussion about race relations in this country." It's a far cry from the deep stool Imus made out of his legendary broadcasting career when he referred to a group of unassuming, college educated black women as "nappy headed hos" last spring on his radio and television show. The major media storm that followed morphed into a controversy that re-awakened racism's ugly head in America. He was subsequently fired from his multi-million dollar contract with CBS Radio.
