BEYONCE DONATES $100K TO IKE VICTIMS

Beyonce Knowles Carter has made a personal donation of $100,000 to the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund benefiting victims of Hurricane Ike in the Greater Houston area who've lost homes, property, and jobs.
The Fund was established at the request of Houston Mayor Bill White to help fill human needs for victims located primarily in Galveston, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Harris and Montgomery counties.
The Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund will provide aid to nonprofit organizations providing immediate relief in the area including shelter and temporary housing, food and household supplies, transportation and child care.
Beyonce is currently organizing a fundraising benefit for Hurricane Ike Relief through the Survivor Foundation with full details to be announced soon.
In the meantime, her not-for-profit organization Survivor Foundation - founded with her parents Tina and Mathew Knowles, sister Solange and former Destiny's Child band mate Kelly Rowland – helped a couple to get married after Ike caused two wedding facilities in the Houston area to go bankrupt. Nathan Rhodes and Ronda Lotter were among thousands of brides and grooms left without a place to exchange vows. The Survivor Foundation donated the House of Dereon Media Center for Rhonda and Nathan's wedding and reception. It was the first wedding ever held there.
