In her interview with Jeannine Turner for Essence; it seems Tyra is none to happy with the opportunities for Black women in Hollywood and is poised to do something about it. After reading December’s issue of Essence with Sanaa Lathan, Gabrielle Union and Nia Long, Tyra said “It really upset me to read about how the money they make doesn’t match up.” In fact, after reading that article, she phoned her mother at 5:30 in the morning and announced, “Ma, I have a new calling.”
