Rihanna will be making her big screen debut in an upcoming film called “Mama Black Widow,” which is based on the 1969 novel of the same name by writer Robert “Iceberg Slim” Beck. Rapper Mos Def will also star in the film, along with singer Macy Gray, Brian White, Anthony Anderson, and Kerry Washington.

The movie tells the story of a black family’s migration from the Southern Mississippi field, to Chicago in the 1930’s. The original novel was a graphic tale about the character Otis Tilson, of a black homosexual “queen,” growing up black, gay and poor in Chicago in 1946. Currently in pre-production, the film will be directed by Darren Grant. Mama Black Widow will hit theatres in 2009.
