AT LAST...
THE WAIT IS OVER!
Sony Pictures has announced that next month, on November 11, they will release on DVD 'This Christmas' and 'The Perfect Holiday', two holiday films that folks have been asking about since the films were released in theaters last year.
Produced by Will Packer and Rob Hardy of Rainforest Films, 'This Christmas' stars Delroy Lindo, Loretta Devine, Regina King, Idris Elba, Sharon Lea, Mekhi Phifer, Columbus Short, Chris Brown, Laz Alonzo, Lauren London, Keith Washington, David Banner, Ricky Harris, and Jessica Stroup.
Directed by Lance Rivera, 'The Perfect Holiday' stars Gabrielle Union, Morris Chestnut, Queen Latifah, Terrence Howard, Malik Hammond, Charlie Murphy, Faizon Love, Jeremy Gumbs, Jill Marie Jones, and Rachel True.An African-American take on the classic and beloved Christmas family film, 'The Perfect Holiday' tells the story of Nancy (Union), a divorced mother of three who is so busy raising her children that she's forgotten to take care of herself as well. With Christmas fast approaching, she decides to take her kids to the mall to meet Santa Claus, not knowing that her youngest daughter Emily (Khail Bryant) has sensed her mother's sadness and is determined to use her time with Santa to make her mom happy again. Just a few days prior, Emily heard her mom say that all she wanted for Christmas was a compliment from a man, so that's exactly what she tells Santa. Ironically, Santa, as it turns out, is office supply salesman and struggling songwriter Benjamin (Chestnut), who ends up giving Nancy just what she wants for Christmas, and much, much more.
COLUMBUS SHORT FEATURED IN HORROR FILM 'QUARANTINE'

HOLLYWOOD HOOPSTERS
Columbus Short is still taking his shot at big-time fame, but he’s taking a time-out for basketball.
Short, who starred in last year’s “Stomp the Yard,” is one of the players/stars participating in a celebrity basketball game Saturday at Municipal Auditorium. The game, the most public part of the Kansas City Magic All Star Weekend for the Clay Johnson Foundation, features musicians, actors and other stars who play in or have some affiliation with the Los Angeles-based NBA Entertainment League.
And what can audiences expect to see from a court full of entertainers?
“Oh, they’re going to see a show,” Short said of the game.
Besides Short, Kansas Citians should see Faison, Flex Alexander (“One on One”), R&B singer Tank; and Frankie Delgado and Brody Jenner from “The Hills.”
Short and company will be helping out the Clay Johnson Foundation, which “started as an initiative to help young people like Clay who grew up without resources”.
This is a bit of a homecoming for Short, who also played in last year’s game. He was born in Kansas City and spent his first five years here before the family moved. He still has family here and said he visits when he can. At the moment, though, he’s just playing ball.
“Working on films takes up 100 percent of your time,” Short said. “I did a lot of work this year, so I’m kind of taking a break.”
